Pissouri village is one of Cyprus' most beautiful villages of a great character and charm, perched on a hill overlooking one of the most breathtaking views of the island. As it is set on the eastern slops of the 800 feet high ridge reaching the sea at Cape Aspro, it is possible to see the countryside and the shorelines all the way to Limassol to the east. To the north one can see the whole of the Troodos range, including Mount Olympus, the highest mountain on the island.
Pissouri has managed to retain its traditional Cypriot character, while adapting very successfully to welcome visitors to the village. Its very Cypriot character is what attracts visitors, holidaymakers and expatriate residences During the summer, its total population can reach more than a 1000 people, about half of who are Cypriots, the rest foreign residents and visitors.
Visitors can find almost anything they want in Pissouri: several shops, supermarkets, banks and an amazing number and variety of traditional tavernas, restaurants and bars, serving food and drink of exceptional quality. During the summer there is a so-called 'Cyprus night' in the lovely "traffic free" village square, with dancing and music.
The Pissouri area is also famous for growing grapes, mainly in the valley between the sea and the main roads that lead to Pissouri Bay.
The beach area has developed since early 1980s from a jetty and one small taverna, into what it is today - an informal collection of excellent tavernas, a few shops, two banks, some apartments, a hotel and a five star resort. The beach itself is clean, safe and sandy. Water sports are also available in the summer.
If Mediterranean lifestyle is what you are looking for, there is no doubt that Pissouri Village is the place for you!
